Tea Porn

My kids can tell I'm just back from Ireland because I keep saying "manky" instead of "dirty," "savage" instead of "amazing," and "poxed" instead of "lucky."  I can tell I'm just back because I'm suddenly in desperate need of some savage new tea wares to replace my manky mugs, pots, and tea bags. I'd be poxed to feed my reinvigorated tea habit with any/all of these:

1. Mix and match pretty tea wares from Lisa Stickley London; 2. Tea with 'tude from Lenny Mud; 3. Sleek and sexy tea wares from Clam Lab; 4. Office-friendly tea-cups with tray and tea honey from Crate and Barrel; 5. BYOT kit (love this) and heart-shaped diffuser with loose tea from Sanctuary T.

I'll put the kettle on; you bring the Club Milks/biscuits!

The burning question is: Lyons or Barry's??? :-)

Barry's have a nice little online shop with cute tea accessories - have you seen it?

I drink Barry's all the time though I have nothing against Lyons. I picked up a giant box of Bewley's while I was home to switch it up a bit. Sidenote: went to Bewley's on Grafton street one late afternoon and my slice of sponge cake was stale, the service bad, the vibe touristy, but at least my tea was decent. I used to love to go to Bewley's when I was young ... but now I'm old and fussy. Ooh, will check out Barry's shop now!

so what's your recommendation for tea? loose leaf? bags? flavors?

Love that you got the Mr. Tea mug Reb!
Tea-wise, I'm not too fussy—once it's constantly topped-up and boiling hot! I hate nothing more than lukewarm tea and sadly, here in NY, that's how it's served in many places. Tea bags are so much more convenient, but loose tea feels more luxurious. I really can't give a straight answer, can I? Trying to force myself to sum up/confront my feelings on bags v's loose, I'm thinking that tea-bags are fine for me on my own, and loose tea is better for sharing. Do you have a preference?

i read somewhere once that loose leaf is more "authentic" and tastes better and all that so because i want to be more "authentic," i generally go with loose leaf....not that i've noticed a difference, but at least i'm being more "authentic." :D

Welcome back! Glad to know that beyond the US, people still serve tea scalding hot... unlike the lawsuit-fearin' Americans!
